What is Mid Herts?
Mid Herts is just one of the 18 districts that there are in the Hertfordshire County. Our district covers Codicote, Welwyn, Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield.
Every week we have 100’s of young people aged between 6 and 18 participating in scouting. Everyone from different faiths, backgrounds and abilities join in and enjoy the fun and challenges that scouting has to offer. Scouting helps young people and adults to reach their full potential. Scouts develop skills including teamwork, leadership, time management, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation and many more fantastic qualities and skills. Scouting will help everyone to get jobs, save lives and change the world. Not only do we focus on giving the young people the adventures of a lifetime, but we also focus on the adults as well. Adding to your skills and finding new interests that you many never had though of.
What is Mid Herts made up of ?
Within the our district we have 10 Scout Groups, 3 Explorer Units, 1 Scout Network Unit and a Scout Active Support Unit. Plus lots of other adult volunteers behind the scenes to make sure your young people get the scouting experience that they deserve.
Our Community
In Mid Herts, we enjoy helping our community. Whether that is helping to do a little pick, doing a stall at a local festival, or helping local food banks. We want to give to the community everything we have as that is in our scouting values.

Where did Mid Herts come from?
Mid Herts was created in the 2004. This was when 2 smaller districts combined. This was the Welwyn Garden City & Digswell District and the Hatdield & district merged to make up Mid Herts as we know it today.
How far can you go in Mid Herts?
As a district we enjoy putting events on for our young people to experience the true size of what they are apart of outside of their groups. The district events allow the young people to see fellow beavers, cubs, scouts or explorers outside of their groups. But the fun does not stop there.
We also get involved with county events of with the young people get to see event more of their fellow scouters. Also the are lots of national events we get involved with and for the scouts and above, even some international events. Which means the young people truly have a chance to make the most of their scouting experience. Allowing the young people to see how big the scouting family is. As a district that’s what we focus on, giving our young people the best experiences we can.
