Mid Herts Cub and Scout Swimming Gala 2018

The evening of 20th January saw the bi-annual Mid Herts Scouts and Cubs Swimming Gala held at The Hertfordshire Sports Village.

Nine teams of eager young people aged 8-14, participated in some serious swimming events as well as a lot of fun events including float races, tug of war and ball pond.

Highlights of the evening included; the egg and spoon race which proved a hilarious challenge for the short-legged cubs who struggled to keep their heads above water, whilst walking and balancing their ‘eggs’!

The tug ‘o’ war event proved which Scout troop is the strongest and the float race saw many Scouts falling head first into the water!
At the same time, a Water Polo competition was being held. The pressure was on to be Mid Herts Water Polo champions and reign supreme until the next time!
The evening was a cacophony of noise, splashes and laughter and it is fair to say that a great time was had by all.

A big thank you to Graham Corton for organising the event and to all of the 3 rd & 9 th Welwyn Garden City Group leaders and Explorers and to Jason Kingwell and Rob Ackland for helping to make the evening run so smoothly and efficiently.

And finally, a big well done to 3 rd & 9 th Welwyn Garden City Cub Scouts and to 1 st Welwyn Garden City Scout Troop who were the overall winners on the evening.
