Route:
- 10.5km total with options to reduce to 8.5km or 7km for those with shorter legs.Urban, parkland and woodland terrain – boots are recommended.
- Open to family / support bubbles associated with Scouting and Guiding – all sections, within local exercise distance guidelines
- Time will be around 2 – 3 hours depending on how fast you walk!
- There will be a badge which will be ordered once demand has been assessed and after the event. This is likely to be the only cost (other than parking) which will be negligible.
- The “competition element” will be running from 13th March till 28th March as each section member will be taking part on behalf of their group. The course and questions will be open for some time afterwards to be enjoyed at your leisure.
- Although it’s still called “Mid Herts Night Hike” I recommend that you do this one in the daylight!
- Terrain is mixed and varied from pavements and pathways to wooded tracks and muddy paths.
- Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions.
Please note that there will be no bases, checkpoints or support vehicles that you normally see on MHNH.
The answer form will be asking you to enter your start time and your finish time, (there’s a convenient clock on the car park ticket machine). The form also asks for a contact phone number so I can check up on you if I think that you’re running late! Once submitted, the form will give you your score instantly. Standings may be updated throughout the weeks and competition winners will be announced on or just after 28th March.
Recovery and welfare is the responsibility of the adults in the family group / bubble.
